PARTICIPATED IN HONOR FLIGHT–Local veterans Rick Liefer and Marvin Wegener are pictured at the World War II Memorial while on the Honor Flight to Washington D.C.
Recently, two local veterans, Rick Liefer of Red Bud and Marvin Wegener of Evansville, traveled to Washington D.C. with the Veterans Honor Flight of Southern Illinois based out of Marion.
Mission 13 for Veterans Honor Flight of Southern Illinois, which took place on Sept. 10, transported 89 veterans to D.C. along with their guardians. During the trip, participating veterans were the guests of honor at several memorials in Washington as well as Arlington National Cemetery.
Liefer and Wegener both served during the Vietnam War and both thoroughly enjoyed their Honor Flight experience.
