This week, Randolph County State’s Attorney James Kelley filed a new charge against Shawn Porter.
A preliminary hearing for Porter, 48, of Red Bud, was held at the Randolph County Courthouse on July 10 for the charges of aggravated battery causing great bodily harm to someone 60+, a Class 2 felony; aggravated battery causing great bodily harm, a Class 3 felony; and obstructing justice and resisting a peace officer, a Class A misdemeanor.
However, last week Kelley stated that there were possibly more charges forthcoming as the investigation continued. And then on July 10, he filed a new charge of first degree murder, a Class M felony.
