Nikki Matzenbacher, RN at Red Bud Regional Hospital’s Emergency Department, was honored this quarter with The DAISY Award® For Extraordinary Nurses. The award is part of the DAISY Foundation’s programs to recognize the super-human efforts nurses perform every day.
Matzenbacher received two nominations from different patient families. One of the nominations said, “My husband came into the ER with shortness of breath. He then had vasovagal which put me into panic mode because he wasn’t responding to me. Nikki rushed into the room and took control in a very calm manner which made me feel better. All evening and into the night, she kept checking on us. She not only kept asking my husband if he needed anything but also showed great concern for me, since I was seven months pregnant. She made us feel comfortable and I can tell she really cares about her patients.”
