A zoning special use ordinance for a community solar farm in Ruma was approved by the Randolph County Board of Commissioners at their Jan. 19 meeting.
Land Resource Management Director Danny Valleroy presented the commissioners with the ordinance, noting that a hearing for the solar farm was held by the county zoning board of appeals on Jan. 9.
The special use permit was submitted by O’Hara IL Solar, LLC / Mark, Adrienne and Laura O’Hara as trustees, for a community solar farm to be located on Walnut Ridge Road, southwest of Ruma.
