During a pretrial hearing scheduled for Monday, March 17, Joshua J. Weygandt pleaded guilty.
Last month, Weygandt, 37, of Ruma, had been charged with aggravated unlawful possession of a weapon, which is a Class X felony following an alleged argument with his neighbors.
The charging documents stated that Weygandt “knowingly carried on his person, while on the land of another person not as an invitee, a loaded firearm, being an AK-47, which was uncased, loaded and immediately accessible to the defendant, and at a time the defendant had not been issued a valid Firearm Owner’s Identification (FOID) Card, while also wearing body armor.”
In the detention hearing for Weygandt on Feb. 10, additional details in the case were given by Randolph County State’s Attorney Chris Koeneman, who argued that Weygandt was a danger and should be denied pretrial release.
