A Randolph County man has been arrested and charged in connection with a number of burglaries to motor vehicles.
Donald Douglas Weiser, 45, of Walsh has been arrested and charged with theft over $10,000 and 11 counts of burglary to motor vehicle for his alleged role in the theft of catalytic converters throughout Randolph County.
The charges, filed in Randolph County Court on Wednesday, Sept. 15, by Randolph County States Attorney Jeremy Walker, alleges Weiser stole catalytic converters as a continuous course of conduct beginning in March of this year.
Randolph County Sheriff Shannon Wolff said his investigators believe they have linked Weiser to as many as 30 additional catalytic converter thefts, possibly more. Wolff noted the investigation is on-going and additional charges are likely to be submitted to the states attorney’s office for consideration in the coming days. Weiser was arrested on Sept. 15 with a bond set at $50,000. Weiser posted a 10 percent cash bond later that evening and was released.
