Steele to be inducted into Illinois Outdoor Hall of Fame

INDUCTED INTO HALL OF FAME–Gretchen Steele, of Coulterville, is one of five people that will be inducted into the Illinois Outdoor Hall of Fame. She is pictured at one of the many bowfishing classes she has done, teaching participants how to identify and clean and prepare gar for the table.

On Sept. 22, the Illinois Conservation Foundation board of directors announced that a Coulterville woman is one of five Illinoisans that will be inducted into the Illinois Outdoor Hall of Fame in the spring.

Gretchen Steele of Coulterville was honored to be one of the inductees.

It was noted that she has made it her mission to inform, educate and communicate with as many people and different outdoor groups as she can reach. She is an award-winning outdoors photographer, a bowfishing expert and a volunteer. In her work, she strives to understand and explain to others any pending legislation that would be important to outdoorsmen and women.
