An update on the Chester Bridge project and its possible affect on Segar Memorial Park was announced late last week by the Missouri Department of Transportation’s Southeast District.
A MoDOT press release stated that on Sept. 27, 2021, the Missouri Department of Transportation completed a National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) Environmental Assessment (EA) and received a Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI), for the replacement of the MO 51 Mississippi River Bridge at Chester, Illinois. Since that time, design has progressed, resulting in some minor changes to the project and anticipated impacts to Elzie C. Segar Memorial Park.
