School Board approved camera update

Camera updates, officials’ pay and personnel changes were the biggest items of discussion at the May 15 Red Bud Board of Education meeting.

Superintendent Jonathan Tallman noted that last year, the school district got “a pretty high tech” server system for the cameras they had. However, the wiring in the school wasn’t enough for the system. Each of the 100+ cameras in the district were going to need upgraded cables.

“We put this off, but it’s time,” he told the board. “We use camera footage a lot, so it’s needing to be updated.”

The proposal before the board was $111,000 with CTS. It covers 117 cameras and the updated wiring. And, Tallman added, that by purchasing the cameras instead of leasing, they would save $50,000.
