Over 20 years ago, Gary “Records” Braun set a personal record by amassing quite a collection of aluminum cans. Recently, he smashed that record.
Back in April 2001, Braun turned in the collection of cans he had been gathering since January 1999. He filled an entire trailer with those cans, which when he turned it in, weighed in at a total of 5,300 pounds.
Collecting that many cans was a lot of work – going out in the cold and often getting rather dirty. But it paid off. At that time, he used the money from those cans to pay off his car.
With a new goal in mind, about three years ago Braun began collecting and smashing cans again.
