TOP OF THEIR CLASS–The Red Bud High School Class of 2018 had two valedictorians and one salutatorian. They are: valedictorians Claudia Watters and Sophie Richards, and salutatorian Laura Juelfs.
On Friday, May 25, Red Bud High School held their commencement ceremony with 90 students receiving their diplomas.
“Tonight we honor these young men and women who have achieved so much,” noted Principal Rob Pipher as he welcomed those in attendance. “They have left a lasting impression.”
He then thanked all of those who have helped the graduates along the way – their parents, as well as the school faculty and staff.
Class Vice-President Claudia Watters reflected on the past four years. “As the years went by, we evolved and took on new titles, but our class has always stood out, she said. “RBHS has taught us a lot. And the small things are the things we’ll never forget.”
Prior to presenting the class to the board of education, Pipher took a moment to recognize one student, Nicolle Ramirez. She was a Rotary exchange student from Peru. While not receiving a diploma, she would be receiving that night a certificate in recognition of her year at Red Bud High School.
He also noted that from the class, 74 percent will be going on to a college or trade school, while another seven percent will be joining the military.
As it was the start of Memorial Day weekend, Pipher then recognized the students that are joining the military, as well as thanked all veterans in attendance.
