After months of working on trying to get an agreement, the Prairie du Rocher School Board approved of a separation agreement with former superintendent Dr. Margo Schmitt at their Feb. 17 regular meeting.
Schmitt, who came to the local area from Des Plaines, had been hired as the school’s new superintendent in July 2025. However, soon after on Sept. 28, the board held a special meeting where they approved of suspending her.
The specifics of the suspension were not made public, but at the time, Board President Amanda Chandler noted that the length of the suspension and the action the board would take was pending an investigation.
