Following a case management hearing on Aug. 28, it is looking like a trial will be held for Shawn Porter the week of Oct. 16.
Porter, 48, of Red Bud, is facing a first degree murder charge following a dispute in Red Bud on June 21, where he was alleged to have poured an unknown combustible fluid onto Donald “Ennie” F. Steibel, 76, of Red Bud. Steibel suffered serious burns due to the incident and later passed away.
During Monday’s hearing, Randolph County State’s Attorney James Kelley noted that the investigation in the case is continuing and he anticipated that more evidence will be produced.
