Last week, Red Bud was one of several local communities hit with a wave a vehicle break-ins.
Red Bud Police Chief John Brittingham reported that in the early morning hours of Wednesday, Oct. 4 there was around a dozen vehicles from various parts of Red Bud that had been reported as broken into. He feels there may have been more.
He shared that it looked like this may have been the work of a ring of people, targeting several communities all in one night. It appears the group started in Columbia, then moved on to Waterloo and other parts of Monroe County before coming to Red Bud. Afterwards, they moved on to Sparta, Tilden, Marissa and New Athens.
