Large voter turn out for Nov. 5 election

With it being a Presidential election year, local voter turnout was very strong on Tuesday. Randolph County reported 72 percent voter turnout while Monroe County reported 81 percent turnout.

While the final, official nationwide results from the Nov. 5 election may take more time to tally, here’s how Randolph and Monroe Counties voted as of Tuesday night at 10:30 p.m.:

In Randolph County, for county commissioner, Andy Gerlach defeated Martin “Marty” Giordano 10,978 to 3,077.

In the state’s attorney race, Republican Christopher Koeneman won over Dennis Frech, taking 11,070 votes to Frech’s 3,030.
