Danny Jackson set a new record for Red Bud wrestling this past weekend at the State Farm Center at the University of Illinois by placing third.
Jackson competed in the 190-pound weight class in the 1A school division. He went 4-1 for the tournament, with his only loss being to the eventual state champion.
“I am so proud of Danny’s performance in Champaign,” said Coach Rob Pipher. “Qualifying for state and doing well there is difficult for all wrestlers, but Danny was able to do it as a freshman. He has developed a great work ethic and a positive attitude that drives him daily to achieve his goals.”
