THE SANDLOT CREW–Several local boys took it upon themselves this summer to resurrect the baseball diamond at Lincoln Park in Red Bud so they could play there. The “Sandlot” crew includes: Witten Wetzler, Walker Wetzler, Blake Maue, Devin Johnson, Hudson Schneider, Felix Aubuchon and Grayson Lindsey.
This summer, a group of local boys decided they just wanted a place to play ball and then put in the work to make it happen.
Not to say that the baseball diamond at Lincoln Park in Red Bud was in bad disrepair, but it definitely needed a little work to make it into a proper playing field.
So taking a cue from beloved baseball movies, The Sandlot and Field of Dreams, enter the “Sandlot” crew.
Grayson Lindsey was the one that initially had the idea of resurrecting the field so he and some friends could use it. This involved raking and removing weeds from the field. Other boys in the neighborhood – Witten Wetzler, Walker Wetzler and Devin Johnson – all grabbed some rakes and joined in.
