An intergovernmental agreement and updates made up the majority of the July 5 Randolph County Board of Commissioners meeting.
The intergovernmental agreement was between the county and the City of Sparta, concerning policing and law enforcement services.
County Board Chairman Ronnie White noted that Sparta is helping the village of Tilden with their policing. However, the approximately three miles between the two communities is the county’s jurisdiction.
White, as well as Commissioner Marc Kiehna, noted that this agreement would allow Sparta Police to have the authority, if needed, to do law enforcement in this area.
