County commissioners pass annual Constitution Week proclamation

RECOGNIZE CONSTITUTION WEEK–The Randolph County Commissioners signed a proclamation recognizing Sept. 17-23 as Constitution Week. Pictured at the meeting after the signing are: Commissioner Marc Kiehna, Liberty Bell of the West Chapter NSDAR members Andrea Costilow and Emily Lyons, and Commissioners Ronnie White and David Holder .

A Constitution Week proclamation and a COVID update were the biggest items at the Sept. 1 Randolph County Board of Commissioners meeting.

As they do each year in September, members of the Liberty Bell of the West Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution were on hand to present the commissioners with a proclamation recognizing Constitution Week.

The proclamation noted that this year Sept. 17 will mark the 236th anniversary of the drafting of the United States Constitution by the Constitutional Convention. It also asked that church and school bells be run at 3 p.m. that day to commemorate the occasion.
