Council approved of new health insurance plan for employees

Following Monday night’s committee meetings, the Red Bud City Council held a brief special meeting.

While most of the evening’s discussion was held during the committee meetings, the biggest topic of discussion was the renewal of the city’s health insurance policy for employees.

Bill Schmaltz of Einstein Consulting Group, which has handled the city’s insurance since 2007, was on hand to discuss the renewal options.

The city has been using Aetna for health insurance for several years now and the current policy is set to expire on Jan. 1. However, when looking into renewal options, Aetna opted to not offer a renewal.
