On Tuesday, July 22, the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department reported that they were investigating a fatal shooting that occurred Monday.
In a press release, they noted that at approximately 1:34 p.m. on July 21, the sheriff’s department and Monroe County EMS were dispatched to 5925 State Route 3 in Waterloo for a medical emergency involving a 14 year old female.

“Within minutes, Monroe County EMS and the first responding deputy arrived on scene and immediately began life-saving measures, including CPR. The juvenile was transported to a St. Louis area hospital, where despite continued efforts, she was pronounced deceased,” the press release stated.
Identified as the victim was Emma Schultheis, 14, of Prairie du Rocher.
