A compromise on a proposed solar farm had been reached since the last time the Randolph County Board of Commissioners had met, so at their Aug. 30 meeting the project was approved.
Just two weeks prior, Kenny Fudge had addressed the board with his concerns about the proposed solar farm project. The 5 megawatt project would be built on 30 acres of the Inselmann property near Steeleville, off of Rabe’s Lane and Substation Road. Fudge’s concerns focused on that he, as a neighboring property owner, had only just received notice of the project, which he stated would be “50 yards from my front door.”
While it was noted that the setbacks for the project met state criteria, Fudge was asking if the project could be shifted 150 yards further south on the property, further away from his home. “I have nothing against solar, I just would like it shifted back a bit,” he said.
