Baldwin broke 58 year track record

RECORD BROKEN–Senior Gavin Baldwin broke a Red Bud High School record in the 100 meter dash that had been held for 58 years. The record belonged to Charles Ratz, pictured with Baldwin.

Senior Gavin Baldwin set his sights on breaking a Red Bud High School track record his freshman year. On April 22, he accomplished his goal.

Baldwin’s determination and competitive spirit led him to come very close to the 100m dash record throughout his high school career.

“I saw there was a record I was already close to so I set a goal to beat that by my senior year,” said Baldwin.

The 58 year old record was 11.00 seconds set by Charles Ratz in 1967. Ratz was a senior and that was the first year for senior track. Baldwin ran 10.75 at the Rocky Bridges Invitational held at Chester to break the record.
