Friday afternoon, Feb. 6, a police pursuit of a driver reported to be shooting at other vehicles started in St. Clair County and concluded in Randolph County.
According to the Illinois State Police (ISP), at approximately 3:50 p.m., a 911 call was received alerting police that a suspect in a Volkswagen SUV reportedly fired a weapon at another vehicle on State Route 13 near Lenzburg in St. Clair County. Marissa Police Department officers located a vehicle matching the suspect’s description traveling on State Route 13 in Marissa and attempted a traffic stop.
The suspect, who was identified as Drew D. Smading, 33, of Wichita, Kansas, refused to pull over and continued to fire a weapon at an additional four vehicles.
