A proposed wage study split the council, leading to much discussion and a very close vote at Monday night’s Red Bud City Council meeting.
Earlier this year, discussions on employee pay raises and filling in the water operator position spawned discussion on conducting a wage study.
In numerous committee meetings where the annual pay raise, which is normally determined by the consumer price index, was discussed, some of the aldermen wondered if they should instead do merit based raises for those that have worked for the city longer or had put in more work.
