On Monday afternoon, the U.S. National Weather Service out of St. Louis, MO confirmed that “a brief, weak tornado” had formed near Ames Road, southwest of Red Bud, at 5:35 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 13. They reported that the tornado struck a shed and produced EF0 damage before moving through a soybean field north of Faust Road and then dissipating at 5:36 p.m. The peak wind speed of the tornado was estimated at 83 mph, with the path length reported as 0.37 miles.
