Route 51 will have lane restrictions for Chester Bridge electrical work

The Missouri Department of Transportation’s Southeast District has announced that Route 51 will be reduced to one lane with a 10 foot width restriction as contractor crews perform electrical work on the Chester Bridge over the Mississippi River.

This section of roadway is located from County Road 946 near Claryville, Missouri to East Kaskaskia Street in Chester, Illinois.

Weather permitting, work will take place Monday, Dec. 11 through Friday, Dec. 15 from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m. A flagging crew will be in place as work is taking place.

The work zone will be marked with signs. Motorists are urged to use extreme caution while traveling near the area.
