Red Bud High School’s girls and boys track teams hosted their second home meet of the season on April 8. The girls placed first with 168.5 points and the boys took third with 84 points. The meet consisted of eight teams: Chester, Christ Our Savior Lutheran, Dupo, Gibault Catholic, Marissa, New Athens, Red Bud, and Sparta.
Jeda Friess placed first in the 300m hurdles with a time of 54.08 seconds and finished first in the 100m hurdles with 17.66 seconds. Friess also placed second in the long jump with a distance of 4.32m. Tess Simpson placed first in the 200m dash with a time of 28.26 seconds as well as first in the high jump with 1.47m. Simpson also placed third in the 100m dash with 13.53. In long jump, Holly Gregson placed first with 4.32m and first in the triple jump with 8.84m. Emma Schultheis took the top spot in the 800m with a time of 2:51.30 and second in the 100m hurdles with 19.49. Addyson Piel placed first in the 3200m with a PR time of 13:33.59 and second in the 1600m with a time of 6:18.39. Gavin Baldwin finished first in the 100m dash recording a PR time of 11.03 and second in the 200m dash with 23.32. Baldwin also placed fourth in the long jump with 5.72m. Hunter Hooten took first in the 110m hurdles with a PR time of 17.23 and second in the 300m hurdles with 45.56. Blayton Sutton finished first in the long jump with 6.20m. The girls 4x200m relay team placed first with a time of 1:59.72.
