A Red Bud Chamber of Commerce general membership luncheon was held on Jan. 31 at the 1860 Public House. Cindy Layman, the assistant program coordinator at the St. Clair County Intergovernmental Grants Department (IGD) was the guest speaker.
Layman noted that her department helps more than just St. Clair County and also has offices in Chester and Waterloo. They cover five counties and work with state programs in Illinois, as well as work with their counterparts on the Missouri side of the river.
They deal with the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA), helping grow and maintain businesses, as well as get new employees, train, and retain workers. And the best part is that their services are already paid for by taxes, so it’s free for businesses to use.
