RBES golf having successful season

ROYALS GOLF–The Royals golf team competed in the Barb Jansen Memorial tournament at Bent Oak in Breese on Monday. This is an individuals only tournament set up by grade level and played at a par 35. Winners from the Royals team included from left: Alaina Stoeckel, second in eighth grade girls (48); eighth grade boys Porter Donjon, first (35); Draedan Duncan, second (36) and Blake Marcheski, third (39). Sutton Eckart placed third in the sixth grade boys division (46).

The Royals golf program is off to another hot start. The program’s successful first two seasons saw a 32-1 record from the boys and four state individual qualifiers and a 17-1 record from the girls with one state individual qualifier. For the first time, the teams will also compete as a team in the postseason as SIJHSAA now provides the opportunity to win a regional and advance to the state tournament as a team.

This year the team consists of 11 boys and six girls. The boys include eighth graders Porter Donjon, Draedan Duncan, Blake Marcheski, Parker Eckart, Harlee Papenberg, and Preston Krack. Seventh grader Breck Gregson and sixth graders Dax Liefer, Finn Liefer, Sutton Eckart and Logan Gibbs.

The girls include eighth graders Brynlee Liefer and Alaina Stoeckel; seventh graders Gracyn Tallman, Emery Zimmerman and Adri Vause and sixth grader Miranda Mollet.
