The Red Bud City Council held a brief special meeting to address a few items on Monday night following their committee meetings.
For a while now, the council has been discussing two CDs that were coming due on Oct. 22 and comparing rates for reinvesting. During the evening’s committee meetings, after looking at rates, they opted to go with taking the CDs to Buena Vista National Bank for a one year term at 5.45 percent. This was then approved at the special meeting.
The council approved of allowing the Red Bud Masonic Lodge to host a chili cookoff event this year on Nov. 18 in the parking lot next to TuLayne’s Tavern. The request for this event included closing West South First Street during the event, reserving the parking lot and the city assisting with power.
