New Year’s Tradition

On New Year’s Eve, members of La Guiannee Society gathered once again to sing traditional songs, including the La Guiannee song. The La Guiannee tradition dates back to 1722. Each year the group travels around the area performing at various homes and businesses; however this year they had limited outdoor performances in town. The group is pictured after performing on the porch of the Creole House in Prairie du Rocher. And while this Prairie du Rocher tradition still took place, it was noted that this year’s Twelfth Night Ball has been canceled again for this year.
