Two ordinances were approved Monday night by the Evansville Village Board, one dealing with a change to bulk water rates and the other with pay for elected officials.
At their August meeting, the village board discussed the need to increase the bulk water rate from 50 cents per 100 gallons to 75 cents or one dollar.
At that meeting, Village President Kenny Kempfer explained that the village was charging the same rate for bulk water as they charge for household water sales, but bulk water costs the village more and they were losing money. He also noted that, with the exception of Chester, even with the increase Evansville would still have one of the cheapest bulk water rates.
