The Red Bud Musketeers football team traveled north of Springfield to battle the Athens Warriors in the second round of Class 2A IHSA football playoffs Saturday. It was a perfect day for the contest; the weather was great, the teams matched up well and were prepared for the game.
The Musketeers took the kickoff to begin play and quickly discovered that the Warriors meant business. The Red Bud offense was able to move the ball, but fought for every yard along the way. The boys also found out first hand that the Warriors had a formidable line that was a big part of Athens’ success on offense.
