BATTLE THE FIRE–Pictured are firemen on scene at the fire at Miller’s Meat Market last Friday afternoon. Firemen from both the Red Bud and Hecker Fire Departments responded.
Just before 3 p.m. on Friday, April 11, the Red Bud Fire Department responded to a call for a structure fire at Miller’s Meat Market on South Main Street in Red Bud.
Fire Chief Sean Landgraf noted, “Heavy smoke was visible on arrival, and the crew attempted an initial interior fire attack. Intense fire pushed them out of the building, and we had to take a defensive stance.”
Soon responding to help assist was the Hecker Fire Department.
“Our ladder truck and main pumper were in the front of the building, pulling water from the nearby fire hydrant. Our reserve pumper pumped out of a portable pond in the rear. Red Bud and Hecker tankers shuttled water to keep the portable pond full,” stated Landgraf.
