FARM FAMILY ANNOUNCED–At its annual meeting on Oct. 17, the Randolph County Association for Home and Community Education (HCE) honored the Liefer family of Red Bud as its Farm Family of the Year. Donna Wetzel, HCE family and community issues chair, is pictured congratulating Stephanie Liefer, who represented the family of honor.
For the past several years, the Randolph County Association for Home and Community Education (HCE) honored a Farm Family of the Year. This year the honor was granted to Cedar Hill Farms which is owned by Kevin and Kathy Liefer and their children, Kirk and Stephanie, Kent and Karen, Kara and Ray, and Kristopher and Danielle, who all reside in the Red Bud area.
The farming operation was begun by the late Ralph and Nina Liefer. As the farm grew over the years, it allowed three generations to work together.
The family all attends St. John’s Lutheran Church and School where they are active in one way or another. While the farming operation requires most of their time, the family knows the importance of being involved within the community and organizations. The family believes in diversification within their operations, as it is important to have outside interests.
