Illinois State Treasurer Michael Frerichs and State Comptroller Susana Mendoza’s offices will be hosting a free I-Cash/Check for Cash event at the Red Bud Public Library on Thursday, Jan. 20.
The state treasurer’s office is holding more than $3.5 billion in unclaimed cash and other assets. The state holds these lost funds until they are claimed by either the original owner or their heirs. Property is returned at no cost with the proper identification, and can be claimed through the I-Cash program.
