INDUCTED INTO HALL OF FAME–On April 12, Sandy Griffin was honored as the first inductee into the Red Bud Musketeers Booster Association’s Hall of Fame. Griffin is pictured at the dinner where she was honored with Musketeer Hall of Fame committee members Darren Liefer, Tim Liefer and Danny Moll.
Sandy Griffin is a local legend and trailblazer, paving the way for women’s sports in Red Bud. So it was only fitting that she was honored as the first inductee into the Red Bud Musketeers Booster Association’s Hall of Fame.
Griffin, who is a retired teacher and coach for Red Bud High School, has quite the impressive coaching career, but is most famously known for her 1974-75 volleyball team.
She fought hard to allow the team to compete in the first ever IHSA state volleyball tournament, facing numerous challenges and people who didn’t want them there along the way. The team was the smallest there, but went on to take third place.
