At their meeting Monday night, the Evansville Village Board discussed joining other communities in celebrating America’s 250th anniversary next year.
Trustee Barry Greer suggested that they hold some sort of event around the Fourth of July holiday, as it will fall on a Saturday.
Village President Kenny Kempfer agreed. “Other communities are doing different things, and we need to do something too,” he said. And while he liked the idea of holding an event, he felt that many other communities will try to hold celebrations on July 4 as well. He noted that celebration events will be held all year long, so they don’t have to have it that day.
