PUBLIC HEARING–With a packed gym behind him, Evansville Village President Kenny Kempfer is pictured addressing the Sparta School District Board at Monday night’s hearing to discuss the possible closure of Evansville Attendance Center.
On Monday night, Oct. 5, the first of three public hearings was held by Sparta Community Unit School District 140 to discuss the possible closure of Evansville Attendance Center (EAC).
The hearing was held at EAC and prior to the hearing, students decorated the sidewalks leading to the building with chalk messages asking the board to “save our school.” People packed the gym, many wearing shirts or carrying signs with the same “save our school” message. As the bleachers filled up, chairs were pulled out of storage and set to the side of the gym. Others stood and watched the proceedings.
