Crowd came out for picnic

RBFD: “This one’s for Grohmann”

The Red Bud Fire Department had a special tribute for Chad Grohmann in this year’s Red Bud Firemen’s Picnic Parade. Carrying the American flag at the very front of the parade was Alan Piel, proudly wearing Grohmann’s fire helmet. Behind him, Chad Crafton carried an “In Memoriam” flag. Grohmann’s bunker gear rode through the whole parade on the bumper of lead fire truck behind the color guard. That truck also had an in memory sign for Grohmann and his family rode in the truck.

Slightly cooler weather on Sunday brought quite a crowd out to watch the 95th annual Red Bud Firemen’s Picnic Parade. And as the afternoon cooled off more, most went to the picnic to enjoy food and fun after the parade.

As of press time this week, the fire department was still working on their post picnic report. It should be in next week’s paper.

It was noted though that there was good attendance for each night of the picnic. Attendance was also good for the annual bags tournament, as competitors played well into the night Friday.
