The Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) recently awarded nearly $1 million in grants to support 15 stewardship programs managed by land trusts on land protected by the Illinois Nature Preserves Commission (INPC).
Among the recipients was Clifftop (Conserving Lands in Farm, Forest, Talus, or Prairie) of Monroe County for $72,472.35 for the purchase a skid steer and attachments to support stewardship activities.
Clifftop said in a statement about the grant, “Clifftop is very pleased to have again been awarded an IDNR Natural Areas Stewardship Grant. Our thanks go out to Natural Heritage and Illinois Nature Preserves Commission staff for their review of our project to purchase equipment to support stewardship and to Director Natalie Phelps Finnie for approving it.”
