Car fell through ice at Dry Lake on Saturday

ON SCENE–Red Bud Firemen in their ice rescue gear are pictured checking for passengers in a car that fell through the ice at Dry Lake on Saturday night. The car was determined to have been unoccupied when first responders arrived at the scene.

On the evening of Saturday, Jan. 29 at 10:18 p.m., first responders were called out to the area of Dry Lake off of Conservation Road in Baldwin for a report of a car that went through the ice.

Reported as responding were: the Baldwin and Red Bud Fire Departments, MedStar Ambulance, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office and the Illinois State Police. Initial reports were that a car had went out 100 feet onto the ice and broke through. It was unknown if the vehicle was occupied.
