With nice weather on Monday, there was a good turn out at the annual Red Bud Memorial Day event held at Ratz Memorial Park.
The guest speaker at this year’s event was Illinois VFW State Senior Commander Maurice Bridges, Sr.
After giving a brief history of Decoration Day/Memorial Day, he asked that on this “proud day of remembrance,” we should all remember not only those that gave their lives, but also their legacy.
“The highest tribute is to live by their legacies,” he explained. “Their lives were not lost in vain.”
