It’s a long, slow process, but the Village of Evansville is one step closer to resolving their water plant issue.
The village board has been trying to address the problem of the aging water plant building for a considerable amount of time now, but there has never been any quick resolution.
The water plant building was built in 1997 using federal and state flood funding following the flood of 1993. It went online in 1998. However, due to the humidity in the building, plus all of the chemicals used to treat the water, the building’s support beams are all rusting and in bad shape. Concerns have also been expressed about the building being blown over or damaged further by storms.
