Primary election is Tuesday, March 17

There may not be much competition on the March 17 primary election ballots, but it is still very important to go out and vote.

Randolph County only has one contested race – for sheriff on the Republican ballot. Jarrod Peters of Ellis Grove is seeking re-election to the position and Christopher Seders of Steeleville is challenging him. (There is no candidate for sheriff on the Democratic ballot.)

Several current Randolph County office holders are seeking re-election and are unopposed in the primary. This includes Justin Jeffers of Percy for treasurer on the Democratic ballot; Melanie Johnson of Sparta for county clerk on the Republican ballot; and Ronald “Ronnie” White of Red Bud for commissioner on the Republican ballot.

Lori Voss of Red Bud is seeking the assessor position on the Republican ballot. She is unopposed.
