At a special meeting Monday night, the Red Bud City Council approved of several items, one of which was the hiring of a school resource officer (SRO).
Red Bud Police Chief John Brittingham noted that he had posted for the position internally and had one officer interested: Ashley Stellhorn. He recommended her to the council for the SRO position.
The council approved of hiring Stellhorn into this new position. She will officially start as the SRO when students in the school district go back after the holiday break on Jan. 6.
