RELAY STOP–On Saturday, Oct. 3, the American Discovery Trail 250 Relay passed through the local area. Pictured at the relay stop at the Creole House in Prairie du Rocher are: relay bicyclist Laurie Benoit, Laurie Umbdenstock of the Randolph County Historical Society, relay support crew Mike and Ellen Leland, Connie Stellhorn with the historical society and Kathleen Coop of Evansville.
This year, the American Discovery Trail hosted a relay to celebrate our nation’s 250th birthday, as well as promote the trail and its 35th anniversary.
Using a combination of runners, walkers, bicyclists and even people riding horses, the relay set off from the California coast on July 4. The plan is to complete the relay by arriving on the coast of Delaware on Thanksgiving Day.
