After months of working on trying to get an agreement, the Prairie du Rocher School Board approved of a separation agreement with former superintendent Dr. Margo Schmitt at their Feb. 17 regular meeting.
Schmitt was hired by the school board in July 2025 as the school’s superintendent and then was suspended at a Sept. 28, 2025 special school board meeting.
The specifics of the suspension were not made public at the time of her suspension or when the board approved of the separation agreement.
The North County News submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request for the separation agreement, investigation report and complaint forms relating to Schmitt. On Feb. 25, the News received copies of the investigation report, complaint forms and supporting documentation.
