Eagles soar past Musketeers

by Brian Magee

The Musketeer varsity football team fell to 0-3 last Friday night with a loss to the Eagles in Columbia. It was a rough night for the Boys as Columbia scored five touchdowns in the first quarter to take a commanding 34-0 lead. Columbia added to their lead with a short touchdown pass in the second quarter to give the Eagles a 40 point advantage. At that point, the game was played using a “running clock,” meaning the clock continues to run unless a team scores or calls a time out. The first half ended with Columbia up 40-0.

The Musketeers fought back in the second half scoring first in the third quarter on a 15 yard touchdown pass to Luke Quintin from Landon Ruebusch. Brayden Koester’s point after touchdown kick failed, but the Boys were on the board 40-6.

Columbia answered with a 41 yard touchdown pass making the score 47-6 after three quarters.
